WHY HIRE A PRIVATE CHEF?

A medley of fresh fruit and vegetables on a cutting board.

Your time is valuable. That’s not new. What is new is that the cost of EVERYTHING has risen dramatically. Now more than ever we are assessing our time and budgets. Hiring a private chef accomplishes many goals.

For starters, a private chef turns your ingredient list into a comprehensive weekly meal plan. Things that may seem like one-off ingredients to you, are easily incorporated into other dishes by us.

Private chefs are budget conscious. Once we know the things our clients like we keep an eye out for special pricing and sales.

A big bonus during these pandemic times is one person handling your food. Delivery services are convenient in a pinch but that’s a lot of hands from the restaurant, to the grocery store, a delivery driver, to you. Private chefs are small businesses and it’s in our interest to keep you and us, healthy.

Hiring a private chef will change your diet in the best possible way. You’ll eat more delicious fresh food and be able to control the amount of salt, sugar, and healthy fats.

Last but not least, a private chef gives you leisure time. Shopping, cooking, cleaning, and even ordering takeout is time consuming, and stressful. Popping a freshly prepared, custom meal into the oven while you relax is priceless.

In good health,

Marcia Whitfield, healthy chef

I’ve Done The Trivia For You!

excerpt — “I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.” “You need to focus your decision-making energy. You need to routinize yourself. You can’t be going through the day distracted by trivia.” ~ President Obama

I saw this quote in a recent article by Kathleen Elkins for CNBC. She set out to live like Mark Cuban for a week to increase productivity! Mark Cuban is no slouch as a father of three, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and one of the host’s of Shark Tank.

I’ve found that the most successful people delegate the trivia to others and/or just keep it super simple. Working with me in person or online will allow you to relieve yourself of the trivia!

In good health,

Marcia

Meal Prep Magic!

I was working yesterday for one of my personal chef clients. He eats a variety of plant based and lean proteins for his health. Basically, the everything-diet. He had some family visiting from out of town. Normally, I make his plant based chili with tempeh and beans. However, with company visiting I wanted to be sure of two things.
1 – that everyone would give the chili a chance. Have you ever seen someone make a funny face when they hear a dish is healthy?
2- that the sodium wouldn’t get out control. After all, I’m a healthy chef!

So, I chose the beef-less crumbles because of their appearance. Looks just like beef. The tricky part is the sodium. This small package has a fair amount per serving. To rectify that I thoroughly rinsed my kidney beans, I didn’t salt my onions, I used water instead of vegetable stock to simmer, and my tomatoes were free of added salt.

It turned out delicious!

Just a friendly reminder that just because something is plant based does not mean it’s healthy. It all boils down to how you prep it. If you’ve been following my cooking tutorial you know this! If you haven’t signed up, why not?

Vegetable Wash: Recipe!

As food moves around the country and world there’s more opportunity for pathogens to hitch a ride. A simple solution is this easy vegetable wash.

Combine 1 part distilled white vinegar and 3 parts water. For example 1 tbsp vinegar and 3 tbsp water, mix together. Using a spray bottle fully douse your produce, scrub and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse well and prepare as usual.

I use a scrub brush like this one to reach all the nooks and crannies and I put my vegetable wash in a spray bottle like this one. This vinegar gets the job done too!

Really simple and your best defense against pathogens!

FYI I’m an amazon affiliate!

The Big Secret! (MOST DAYS)

The “big” secret that many reject when it comes to sustained fat loss is the small incremental changes that one must continually make. Most days go for the walk or hit the gym. Most days drink plenty of water. Most days have an apple instead of the flaming hot cheetos. Most days get enough sleep. Most days pack your lunch and eat dinner at home. Most days be sure to see the funny. It’s most days. Not all days! By the way I make a killer healthy pizza.

Bride and Groom Not Pictured

Fun Fact! October is the most popular month for people to get hitched! Mild weather, cheaper air fare and hotel rates, in some cases beautiful fall colors abound and everyone is back from summer vacation.  All this ensures a good turnout for saying, “I do!”

The not so fun fact is that wedding preparation can be stressful. Sure there are tons of parties and mini celebrations leading up to your big day but then that can pile on unwanted calories. Bah humbug!

Whether you’re the bride or groom, mother or father of the engaged, or even a bridesmaid or groomsman September is the perfect time to get some fresh, healthy meals delivered to keep your body in check. Not to mention the extra free time you’ll have to hit the parties, take care of last minute details, have fun and look forward to the wonderful next chapter in the lives of people you care about.

Today Be Your Best!

This is not a blog on organic food. It’s a blog about you! What you’re putting in vs. what you’re getting out. Before we delve in to that let’s talk about the rest you’re getting.  Hopefully it’s plentiful and quality. However, knowing the society and times we are living in probably not! Quality food is like quality rest. You know it when you have it and life seems to go more smoothly when you do. For most of us we get quality sleep when we are on vacation. You may do some catching up on all the sleep you’ve been missing but by day four or five you generally wake up refreshed, without an alarm, and not needing a caffeine jolt. You’re happy and rested. It’s really the same with food. The good news is that you don’t have to wait to take a vacation for this to happen!  As you eat a steady diet of quality, wholesome cooked meals your stomach settles, digestion is smooth, your outlook even during stressful days is positive, and your energy is up. It really is simply with what’s on your plate.  At times, you can’t find the time, motivation or recipes to make for yourself. Or maybe you never had quality instruction on what good wholesome food is and can be. Spoiler alert it isn’t juicing! That’s where I come in! I’ll create it, plate it, deliver it, and you’ll enjoy it. Simple! Time Saving! Life Saving too!  Start Today! Be your best!

With love,

Marcia

Hire us! Save time! Keep the flavor!

At least once a week I come across a blog or article about meal prepping.  It never fails that the blogger/writer ends ups overwhelmed by the menu tasks and required dedication, and mostly underwhelmed by their lack of cooking skills, and often our price point is lower than what they spent on a weeks’ worth of food.  Seriously! Hire us! Save time! Keep the flavor and your sanity!
