Surround yourself with positive people!!

Your best asset is a smile and your best defense are positive, like minded people!  Set about finding your tribe!  It won’t happen overnight but it will happen.   Be generous and positive towards others.  We attract what we give.  We’ve had a preponderance of the “me” generation.  It’s time for the “we” generation.

Saturated Fat! Revised!

Today I was asked what I would eliminate from a habitual morning breakfast. The options were a) maple syrup b) fresh berries or c) butter. To most people’s surprise I answered, “I’d keep the butter for sure!” Of course in my mind I’m thinking of the highest quality butter, that’s from grass fed happy cows! Think it over! Saturated fats in moderation are not the villains they once were. And for the record I’d skip the maple syrup.

Statistics may matter but not to me. For everything I want there’s a statistic to tell me I shouldn’t want it! Get married? 50% failure rate! Start a business? 3 out of 4 don’t make it! Get fit? Your family genetics don’t support it! Statistics lump you with the average. Who the %*$# said I’m average?

If you’d treat your body like a successful business you’d find that you rarely have to start over again in health or fitness.  A business takes time to grow and may have learning experiences disguised as setbacks.   A successful business requires focus, resources, and commitment.   A successful business plans for the future.  Treat your body like a business and reap the success!

Like it or not you are on a diet! Results may vary!!

If most of us went on an organic diet we’d save money in the long run and probably lose body fat!  Hear me out….by paying a little more for your food you’d place more value on it and not waste it.  Chances are you’d eat a little less meat and sub in more beans and vegetables as organic meats tend to be a bit pricier.  Your medical bills over time would be reduced because we know that excess body fat is linked to a number of self inflicted maladies.  Finally, with large consumer demand the prices of organics would decrease.  It seems like a winning strategy for us and the earth!

Living Clean

“Clean” Life Basics

The Clean Life Includes:

  • *Drink plenty of water each day.  Unsweetened Coffee and Tea count as water too.
  • *Get some shut eye.  Don’t try to “catch up” on the weekend.  TiVo-DVR your favorite shows and watch them on the weekend!
  • *Eat regularly and plan ahead.  Don’t get caught without some “clean snacks” like nuts, dried or fresh fruit, string cheese etc.  Staying fueled up is key to avoiding the unhealthiest of snacks!
  • *Move around every day.  You don’t have to be a gym rat but you do have to do something.  Your skinny jeans are waiting :-)
  • *Smile and Laugh at least a few times a day.  A positive person sees themselves achieving and living a vibrant life.  Youtube cute cat videos!  Need we say more!
  • *Surround yourself with like minded individuals.  It matters!
  • *Be your own best friend and cheerleader. We all have tough days but they don’t need to turn into tough weeks or months.
  • *Set a goal with a pal and stick to it.  Reward yourself once in awhile with a spa day or a new gadget.
  • *Remind yourself about the gains you’re making in your health and life.  It’s the one time when we agree you should look back and say, “heck yeah!”
  • *Visit your doctor for a checkup and see if your numbers for cholesterol, blood pressure and weight have changed. This should be good news to share!
  • *Above all else….Don’t Quit!
